Hi Sorro and HNY to you and yours. An interesting list…may I add two books to your list, both American so maybe not so well known to you? The Nix (Nathan Hill) was one of this year’s publishing sensations. It’s a fantastic story, running from the 1968 Chicago protest to the present day. Hill writes in similar style to Tom Wolfe. Also The Circle by Dave Eggers. Eggers is undervalued IMHO, and The Circle absolutely nails the millennial self-obsession and immaturity at the heart of Silicon Valley.
Thanks Richard and HNY! I have The Nix on my shelf waiting to be read and I heard a review of The Circle on R4 last week so your recommendations. Are timely. Many thanks. I also hear that congrats are in order. Well done old chap. Your eldest did sterling work as Charlie’s best man in April. Have a cracking 2017. Best wishes, Paul
Just checked and I hadn’t got The Nix so have ordered it! Just started The Sellout. Paul Beatty, the first American to win the Booker last year. Savage satire.
